Alastair Cook has been awarded the Freedom of the City of London for his fantastic performances in the 2010-2011 Ashes series, in which he also won Man of the Series.
Nobody really knows what the Freedom of the City actually is.

Cookie can now drive sheep and cattle over London Bridge and carry a naked sword in public (not that kind of sword ladies), plus is if a Peeler (policeman) finds Chef drunk and incapacitated, they will hail a taxi and send him home rather than take him back to the yard.

Alastair Cook you have nine lives…. well played!

Unfortunately for Australia, those nine lives are all still intact.

Alastair Cook’s knee

Alastair Cook’s knee set the tone for it’s body’s innings last night by bending correctly and allowing a solid forward defensive. After a few streaky deliveries this morning Alastair Cook’s knee was again being levered correctly allowing a run starved body to hungrily go after a wayward Wahab Riaz and take advantage of the lack movement for all bowlers whether seam or spin. Cook’s movement got better as the innings went on with the knee playing a pivotal role with bent properly allowing a well balanced body to take the attack to the Pakistani bowlers struggling with little assistance from the overhead conditions.

Alastair Cook's knee in full flow

But if they exhibited a little extra self-belief and took more attacking options the ice baths would be used more for the celebratory beers than the sacrificed bowlers.

Captain Cook batted with new assurance in ODI (via BBC Sport - Cricket - Bangladesh v England photos) but I felt he was out captained by Shakib Al Hasan. Cook seemed to keep to the normal one day script but Al Hasan’s innovation at the top of the inning kept the Bangladeshis in it. England’s superior batting composure by Collingwood and Cook inparticular won the day, Cook will have to face stiffer captaincy tests than this if he is to be proven in the role.
