Imran Tahir - journey complete?
When Imran Tahir ripped through the Somerset batting in the CB40 final to set Warwickshire up victory it was clear to everyone watching that here was an international class bowler who deserved a chance to prove his worth at the highest level. Tahir has played for countless first class teams including four English counties, three South African franchise and various commercial vehicles used in Pakistan. But he’s never really seems to have settled for one club constantly moving, this isn’t because he has been passed over on the contrary his talents are so much in demand that English counties seemed to have developed a rotational system between them in order to prevent argument. His attacking spin has been a potent weapon, bamboozling batsman where ever he went Warwickshire and Hampshire fans will at test to that.

The riddle of course for Pakistan fans is why a bowler with such talent has been passed over by their national selectors. South Africa however are wise enough not to pass up such talent and experience and for the first time that I can remember tomorrow they will have an spinner in the side who isn’t there to simply cut off runs and block off one end, Tahir will look to take wickets. For Graeme Smith this dreamland and not a minute too soon as Tahir will surely thrive at a subcontinental World Cup.
